🚀 MarketWire | Netease's Fall Guys Inspired Competitor Eggy Party to Launch in West

Can Eggy Party dominate globally as it is dominating in China? What's bigger? The Metaverse or the Eggyverse? Lol.

Hello GameMakers,

This week we check out Eggy Party, the Netease game that’s almost all China and iOS-only but dominating the China Top Charts (see China charts below).

How well will this game translate outside of China?

The game is competitive to Stumble Guys (mobile) and Fall Guys (Epic, why is Fall Guys not on mobile yet?). Does Scopely/Epic have something to worry about?

Top 10 Charts

  • This week, Honkai Star Rail gave up two spots in Worldwide Top 10 Revenue to Tencent’s Honor of Kings and King’s Candy Crush Saga.

  • Notable that with the emergence of Tencent’s Goddess of Victory on the Top 10 Worldwide Revenue charts, Tencent and Mihoyo (aka HoYoverse) now control 50% or 5 out of 10 of the Top 10 Worldwide Revenue!

For those following GameMakers, we’ve been discussing the eventuality of the rise of China for a few years now.

Additional thoughts from this past week’s Pixels & Profits episode:

  • There’s some debate in the games industry about how real/profitable Scopely’s Monopoly GO’s push to #1 downloads in the US is. Smart folks on both sides. What do you think?

  • Continued to be mystified by revenue performance of Evony. Good job to Top Games.

  • Eggy Party is #4 Downloads and #3 Revenue in China!

  • Riot is the only “non-Chinese” games studio to crack China’s Top 10 Revenue chart.

  • Both Dragon Poker (#2 in Revenue) and Shadowverse are CCGs.

Lot of hype around Street Fighter 6.

Check it out!

“Street Fighter 6 has the drive system. For my money, it’s the best the series has ever seen.”

While the world seems to be moving to more immersive and hyper-realistic graphical fidelity. Warhammer 40K: Boltgun does the opposite:

Good to see that there are multiple paths to game success!

🔦 Spotlight | What’s Bigger? The Metaverse or the Eggyverse?

Eggy Party is a mobile casual game that has taken inspiration - like Stumble Guys (made by Photon/Kitka acquired by Scopely) before it - from Fall Guys (Mediatonic acquired by Epic). Your egg-like character can be customized, and the game includes competitive multiplayer gameplay and several mini-games.

Eggy Party also includes a creative mode called Eggy Workshop, enabling players to build custom maps and games.

Here is the official trailer for the game:

It’s pretty clear that while the game is still only available in China and the Philippines (presumably to test Western launch), Netease has big plans to push the game globally.

Data.ai estimates cumulative downloads at 49.3M and cumulative revenue at $151M current life-of-product. Remember, this is all from just China and iOS only.

Good luck, Netease, on a successful global and multi-platform launch!

Who’s ready for the Eggyverse?
