🚀 MarketWire | Is Fake Future fake?

The #1 downloaded game in the US seems a little fishy, dare I say fake?

Hello GameMakers,

Fake Future, a unique and interesting game from , has hit #1 in US downloads. This simulation sci-fi city-building game features a cool, pixelated art style and dope music.

Having said that, the success of the game is a bit puzzling. There are many downloads in a single geo - the US - but not much revenue. Read more below.

🔦 Spotlight | Is Fake Future’s Success Fake?

This one is a little fishy.

Just checking the numbers in data.ai, looks like there was a huge push in the US but nowhere else. And it’s already coming back down to low numbers. See below.

Back in the old days, you used to be able to push games to #1 on iOS AppStore for like $80-$120K via black-ops. Something like that. I’m not saying that’s what happened, but I’m not saying it didn’t happen, either.

While the game actually seems cool, unique, and fun to some degree, I don’t think this is a natural or sustaining hit.

Revenue generation also seems pretty light at ~$49K in cumulative revenue worldwide.

If you’d like to check out the game, though, here’s a good summary below:

If you’re from Sentai/Yunzun and want to talk more about this game on a podcast just hit me up!
